Wagon Wheel Weaving Mat
Wagon Wheel Weaving; Rug Mat – Join us for a fun session helping preserve a heritage tradition popular among Scandinavian immigrants and French - Canadian families. Traditionally, the rim of a wagon wheel was used weaving fabric from old clothes or linens. Warping and weaving are done at the same time as opposed to traditional weaving procedure of warping first then weaving. The weaving simulates the pattern of a wagon wheel.
For this class, we will be using a smaller hoop structure than a traditional size wagon wheel. You will create a mat that you can use under a teapot, vase, or as a placemat.

| Requirements: | Water bottle, comfy clothes. Please park in one of the lots or parking spaces across the street from the store or in the lot at the end of the block. |

| Instructor Bio: | When Kim was 11yrs old, she wrote her first paper – Textiles of India. Her mom always thought she would go into textile design but alas, Kim had other ideas – and took a round about path to where she is now – not designing textiles per say, but working with fiber and fabric in another way. As a career profession, Kim has been teaching college students for the film / game art industry and later graphic design industry since 2001. Her formal education covers 3 college degrees and a host of independent courses in — art history, history of ancient architecture, history of decorative arts, history of fashion design, printmaking, small metal sculpture, book arts, 3D fibers, ceramics, pueblo pottery making, analog photography, digital photography, documentary photography, fashion design pattern-making and production, life drawing, computer art, sound design, 3D modeling/animation, felting, weaving, spinning, crochet, knitting, silk painting, found object sculpture, metal smithing, paper making. "I guess you can call me a jack of all trades — an image-maker, fiber artist, painter, mixed media artist, sculptor and yes — a house painter" Primarily she considers herself a catalyst for fostering creative growth…. a creative mentor guru of sorts — a guide – and is really happy to be on this journey because she gets to do what she loves most — create and help others do the same. https://www.countrymile.life/ |
