"As a fiber artist and horsewoman, I've always wanted to make my own horse blankets. I came upon a method from the Southwest called 'pulled wool pads' that is the perfect method for beginners or old hands when it comes to the fiber arts. Using a latch hook rug canvas and latch hook, a continuous piece of wool roving is pulled up through the canvas in loops. This method for building saddles pads is not only simple, and approachable, but yields exceptionally high quality saddle pads that many cowboys swear by.

Students will be provided all the tools and materials needed to make their own pulled wool pad to take home. Included is 6lbs of wool, canvas, and a latch hook. I'll show students step by step how to prepare their canvas, start their pulled wool pad and make sure that their first saddle pad is a success. Pulled wool pads take about 10-12 hrs total to make, so students won't finish the pad during this class, but will leave with all the skills to do so. I'll also have printed versions of my complete PDF guide to send home with students."
